Friends of the environment
Friends of the Environment (FRIENDS) was established in 1988 when a group of Hope Town residents with a passion to ensure that future generations of Bahamians and visitors alike be able to enjoy the brilliant flora & fauna that Abaco provides, formed an official organization dedicated to the education and preservation of Abaco’s fragile environment.
SEA MONKEY PROJECT
Sea Monkey Project is focused on environmental education and awareness, including the reduction of ocean plastic. Sydney Steenland heads the project that provides seminars and educational tools to schoolchildren in SE Asia about environmental protection and creating good habits. She is also a sought after public speaker at international schools and corporate events, explaining about her life living on a sailing boat and the environmental devastation that she has experienced firsthand.
Ocean Legacy Foundation
A Canadian based, internationally recognized non-profit organization that has developed a world leading Plastic Pollution Emergency Response™ program called EPIC. This dynamic and integrative approach combines 4 main components; education, policy, infrastructure and cleanup.
loop2cycle
Everything loop2cycle does revolves around reducing the amount of plastic waste that is entering our oceans. They manufacture small, portable, low-cost upcycling machines, that allow communities around the world to convert No-value single-use plastic waste into higher-value consumer products. The products manufactured from plastic waste can be reused for years to come. Loop2cycle is on a mission to provide one of these machines to every remote underprivileged community on earth, ensuring they have the tools and training required to reduce their own plastic pollution.
precious Plastic
Precious Plastic is an open source plastic recycling project, a combination of people, machines, platforms and knowledge to create an alternative global recycling system. The project was started in 2013 by Dave Hakkens and is now working on Version 4.
